The Witcher: Monster Slayer is an AR game from the Polish studio Spokko and is based on Niantic’s hit Pokémon GO. Instead of playing a Pokémon trainer, you take on the role of a witcher who goes in search of dangerous monsters and wild creatures. The monsters and creatures are seen in the real world through your phone’s camera, thanks to augmented reality technology.
The core of Monster Slayer gameplay consists of exploring the world, tracking, analyzing and fighting full-size monsters – both familiar and completely new ones. For each hunt, players must prepare by brewing powerful witcher potions and oils, crafting fireworks and bait for monsters, and developing their witcher’s skills. The weather and time of day, which are updated based on your current location, also play an important role in combat. There are also numerous story quests inspired by games about the adventures of Geralt of Rivia.
Our active readers were able to test and level the game in advance thanks to the APK download (only available on Android). In our download section you will always find the latest downloads if your smartphone is not compatible with the game.
Another Beta Invite
About a month ago, Spokko followed up and invited even more players to test the game extensively before release. Many of the players received an invite just a few days later and could begin their adventure. The tension grew when the game would finally be released.
Shortly after that, the countdown of the first WitcherCon was pointed out, which can be found on the official website. Many already suspected that the official launch of the game would be announced at this event.
